I don't have any of these but I just wanted to point out that you are well on your way to becoming addicted like the rest of us. Hope you have lots of room for plants in your house!

aviolet6...boy, are you right! This all developed from rescuing a dying orchid in the office about 3 months ago. Nobody was taking care of it, and I brought it home and just gave it water with diluted fertilizer. It leapt back to life, and it was so nice to have something living in my room. I've always liked African violets, so I went shopping for one, and found a dying specimen at a local nursery, buying it. That also came back to life with a vengeance, and at that point I was addicted. I am keeping my limit to 5 plants, no more! I'd rather grow 5 really well than get a ton of them going in my limited space. Anyway, as addictions go, this is a nice one. :-)

No online window shopping then or you will have way more than 5 soon!

Hmmm! We'll see in a short while whether you can stick to that 5-plant resolve. :)

You know...you're right...I'm gonna have to be verry careful. I am a rose person too, and have so many of those (I have not dropped that interest, but just added violets!) that it's crazy. I went to the Plant Depot in San Juan Capistrano today (great nursery) and they had all these beautiful AVs...alas, unlabled - with fantastic flowers and beautiful variegated foliage, and I had all I could do not to pop 3 or 4 of them into my cart....and I'd just gone there to pick up vermiculite! Scary.

Anyway, I did some soil mixing when I got home: 1 AV soil, 1 perlite, 1 vermiculite. It came out really nicely. When the time comes to re-pot my rescue plant, I'll use this mix.
