Advice for starting not-quite-so-healthy leaves?

Does anyone have any extra-special TLC advice for starting leaves that are not in the best condition to begin with? To be more specific, the leaves' colors are good and they have no rot in them, but they are very (very, very) limp, the poor things. Should they maybe be laid flat-ish, so they can get more light and don't crease? Or should should they be left hanging over the cup because they'll firm up and should not be touching anything damp?

Our MO here around the office is usually just "stick 'em in dirt" (yes, we heathens say dirt), but with these limp leaves being the last leaves of their kind from the round robin we were in, it's a use-it-or-lose-it type of deal, and we really don't want to lose them. :)

Thanks as always.
