Using Leaf Rings

Does anyone use leaf rings? I'm just wondering as I was seeing some folk on a Facebook for micros and minis doing that.

If so, does it help in general, or just with showing? I've got a carnation sprinkles whose lower leaves always seem to drop and finally have to plucked after a bit and wondered if this would help. Also wondered if it would help shape some of my minis as well.

I don't use them - i look at it as either the plant's natural growth habit, or a cultural issue (IE too much light). But then, my main objective is still keeping them alive, blooming if possible....

If you have a spare plant, you can experiment with the rings though, and let us know how it goes :-)
