Vacation-domes

I'm going on vacation for about 10 days in a month or so. I have 30-odd violets, mostly mini's with a few mid-size, and I have domes for the non-wicked violets. I read somewhere that AVs should be disbudded prior to putting them under the dome. Does anyone have any experience with this? About half of them are blooming like crazy. It would hurt to disbud them but hurt more to lose them.

You may want to try a trick I have been using for years. Water well, turn off your lights and go!

I travel a lot, I grow orchids and violets and have been using this with much success. Growth is slowed down to such an extent without light that I can go away for about three weeks at a time.

If you are going to dome your plants, the main reason you would want to dis-bud, I believe, is so the blooms do not get mildewy and then you would have to deal with getting rid of that. Blooming plants under a dome will not kill a plant. I have lots of bloomers under domes.
