You can try a mini greenhouse. You can buy aluminum baking pans with clear plastic lids. Target sells some made by Reynolds that seem to be a bit sturdier than those made by hefty. I think it's the lasagna pans that have a 2 3/4 " dome and same base. Some come with dark blue tins, which look nicer (to me) Three pack is $5.98. Smaller ones are much less. The humidity inside the closed dome really benefits a rooting plant or leaf. Just don't put it anywhere near a sunny window or they will be baked to mush in no time flat. Under fluorescent lights is ideal, but not necessary. Or you may have saved a big deli tray that came with a clear plastic dome. My husband brings them from work for me from time to time.

Ok. I'll keep them covered. I have the shades drawn in a futile attempt to keep it cooler. They don't get direct sun where they are, but it's pretty bright most of the time, anyway.

While they are re-cooperating, the covered pans are the best thing to do. I hope they make it and your air gets fixed soon.
I keep all my leaves covered and they do very well. Also any small plant that looks stressed.

Whew! The air is back, plants are covered, and the separated suckers have perked back up. (The leaves have not, yet.) They did better when I moved the covered plants far far away from the window, so they stopped getting hotter. Not much light for two days, but that seemed better than wilting.

One question about humidity and high temperatures. In trying to figure out what to do with these plants in high temperatures, I read that there is an increased risk of root rot when it's hot. Is that risk not exacerbated by higher humidity, as when you cover them?

Yes, those are plastic. The pattern on the side is just where the potting mix is pressed against it. They're just white-ish plastic 3 oz ones from Giant Food.
