I need to see what good soil is like!!

I have a proposition for you av lovers: would one of you that considers yourself a fairly good grower be willing to send me a small bit of your soil mix that you use? I feel like I need to see and feel the composition of this soil because I do not like what some of my avs are planted in, I know they need to be repotted, but I want to see if what I have at home is similar to what you use. I bought miracle grow av soil, and am contemplating adding perlite to it. Am I on the right track? I would happily send money to cover shipping and inconvenience, let me know if anyone is willing to help me :) thanks guys!! Becky

Hi Becky!
Check out Annie's podcast episode 8! At about 10 minutes in she discusses mixing perlite into miracle grow's AV soil. I would offer to send some of my mix, but it's not typical of what most people use. It's mostly pine bark.
Good luck! It took a few tries before I found the mix that worked for me.

Becky,

I know soil mixes can be confusing so here's a very simple recipe: 1 part of your Miracle-Gro, 1 part perlite, 1 part vermiculite. That's it. It will be light and fluffy and perfect for your violets. Easy-peasy!

is made from volcanic rock!
