Wow. thats awesome! I know I already asked this before in a previous posting but for rooting the leaves to get babies... I tried doing so in water... leaf died with in the week. So I was wanting to try just rooting in soil, however, I have been unsuccessful in finding vermiculite. Will just a good mix of perilite and peat work well enough? I am also wondering.. what exactly is a sucker? (mentioned in other post) I was also wondering how to help my adults to grow. Any specific ideas or tips? would it be best to repot from old soil into a peat and perilite mix? (old soil is heavy and hold a ton of moisture and is kinda weird) Thanks so much!

Yup, that's what I use--peat & perlite. Both for potting plants and starting leaves..
I'm on my own personal "I Hate Vermiculite" campaign. The stuff just "bothers" me...

I agree with Merm. Vermiculite no matter how little I use keeps my medium too wet and for whatever reason the plants do not grow as well as without.

Could be the ph as vermiculite varies greatly in ph depending on where it comes from. I have used even Miracle-gro with double the amount of perlite with great success.

One bit of caution is if you have hard water (like my town)the perlite will absorb the minerals and the top layer of the soil will need to be replaced every so often even if you do with water flushings.
