African Violets

I was given an African Violet that has grown a long stem or 'trunk" between soil and leaves. . actually growing out of the pot. How can I get this plant to look normal with leaves on top of the pot rather than at the end of a long winding trunk? Is there anyway to cut off that trunk? Will it produce roots?

HI,
Yes your plant can be restarted and it will look wonderful again. I have spoken to groups on AV's and have prepared three sheets that I hand out. One of them is on rejuvinating plants. If you would like them, email me and I will send them to you. Meanwhile check out the pics I have posted on one of my neglected plants and it will show you what can be done.

Fred, Thank you for the photos! I had planned to repot some of my aunts AV's this week. Now I know what they should look like.
