I water from the top, and then put a smidge of water in the bottom for the wick to suck up. But am new to wicking too, and it varies from plant to plant and location to location around the house. So I move plants a lot, looking for perhaps a more ideal location to meet their needs.

I have oyama pots too, and some AVs just don't like them.

Not much help, but sometimes you just have to experiment...

take this advice with a grain of salt ... you will figure it out ... or not ... sometimes you have to try a different AV and give a friend your problem one. Their house could be better.

A couple of my problem ones are going to work, where people love it warm all year, plus there is a nice south window.

They croak, there's about 14,000 other varieties to try ...

P.S. You re-start the wick as Dave says-just water from above until the water comes out the bottom.
