It's all about the timing of disbudding, increasing lights and changing fertilizers... Don't ask me, I read a lot, but haven't actually tried it yet.
Google 'growing to show' and you'll find some hints, even a pdf schedule somewhere - but apparently the book (growing to show by Pauline Bartholomew) is a much greater resource if you can get your hands on it.

Talk your club into moving the Show to later date - like Saint Patrick's day. The AVs are still recovering from a hot Georgia summer in October. Lots of clubs in FL have their shows in February - fo the same reason. Or - turn your airconditioner to full blast in a grow room for the summer.

This isn't a club. It is the county fair, always held the first week of October.

You cannot do anything with county fair. They are tied to the important crops, not to us.

What about Georgia clubs? Is there one you can drive to and take your plants to their show?
