Wondering

Well all of you can tell I don't have a lot to do. I love to plan my garden. Am going to speicalize in tomatoes this year and am wondering if any have ever tried this and if so what kind of success did you have?

I have plenty of leaves, pine straw, chicken litter, dead fish and so on. My question is has anyone ever placed a baby pamper, unused ofcourse, at the bottom of the hole you plant your tomato plant in? As absortant as those thing are it seems they would hold water for a long time. I have heard of people in the old day putting corn cobs around plants because they hold water for quite sometime.
