Creeping Fig

Hi! I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Last spring, I planted 20 creeping fig vines along an ugly cement retaining wall. They were so lovely!! Until we had the coldest freeze spell in many years. This plant was recommended to me by a landscaper, and my local nursery agreed that it was a good choice. Now it has been turning brown...and looks awful! There are still green sections, but now I am unsure as to whether or not these vines are hardy enough for my zone. Do you think that with pruning they will revive in the spring? When should I prune them? I am new to the South...so I have no prior experience with this plant. Thanks for any advice you can give!
