White Lightning Okra

I have been trying to find some seeds for an heirloom okra called White Lightning. I understand it was used here in the south because it was real white and used in pickling sweet and hot mixes and with tomatoes.

Here is what I could find on the internet

White Lightning - Breeder and vendor: H.G. Hastings Company, Atlanta. Parentage: White Velvet. Characteristics: long, slender, white pods, tender. Similar: White Velvet. Adaptation: southern U.S. Hastings Catalog, 1939.

Couldn't find White Lighting -- but here's White Velvet - which appears to be the original parent of White Lightning.

White Velvet

This is an old variety once favored in the Southern United States. Introduced by the Peter Henderson & Company of New York around 1890. Plants grow 4 to 5 feet tall. The pods are greenish-white in color, long (6 to 7 inches), tapering, smooth, velvety and not prickly to the touch. They are round and do not have the heavy ribbing like some other varieties. Excellent flavor.
