The UA Arboretum in Tuscaloosa has several things going on soon

gardeners & others may like. Announcement follows:

****************************************************

The Environmental Family in a Changing World

Saturday Programs at the Arboretum for parents and children.

Beginning February 28th, the Arboretum will host free programs open to

the public every Saturday at 11:00 am and again at 1:00 pm. Programs

will last approximately an hour and a half. Children will participate

in hands-on environmental activities to help them better understand the

way nature works. During this time, a specialist will speak to adults

about environmental topics such as gardening, lawn maintenance, organic

shopping, as well as many other general environmental issues.

The February 28th program for parents and children will feature an

introduction to the series and an educational stroll through the

Arboretum to learn about our projects, services and goals.

On March 7th, Ted Sekeres will speak to adults about healthy lawn care

practices, while children can get their hands dirty, learning to start a

garden!

On March 14th and 21st, local families are invited to bring a picnic to

the Arboretum. There will be activities and games for the kids, and lots

of springtime activity unfolding in our gardens and grounds for people

of all ages to see and enjoy.

Finally, on March 28th, Joseph Wright will discuss environmental issues

of particular concern in the South, while children learn about the

ecosystems of the Arboretum.

For more information about Saturday programs for families at the

Arboretum, contact Austin Creel at 553-3278 or eearboretum@gmail.com.
