Do you want formal or just some evergreens that need little care? I am sure someone here can help you with plants that like damp soil. I have a couple of small gardenias, 2 camillias, about 8 purple leaf bushes that priduce oink flower in the spring and 2 nellie holly on the end. Wish I had not chosen the last.

I'm assuming that you don't want more trees! Here are some shrubs and perennials that like damp soil:

Shrubs: Virginia sweetspire, red chokeberry, spicebush, sweetshrub, leucothoe, anise, redtwig dogwood.

Perennials: Astilbe, ferns, yellow flag, pentas, cardinal flower, jack-in-the-pulpit, Joe Pye weed, primrose, forget-me-not.

Thanks for your replies. We had cut down all the holly bushes that were there to begin with, Jill I don't blame you for not wanting them they are terrible. Phillip your garden is beautiful. I cannot wait to get some flowers in my yard as it looks bare, except the giant piece of pompas grass in my front yard ... LOL but thats another story.
