I'm in zone 7 and no signs of any of mine. I think the cold winter made everything a little late. Don't give up yet.

I live just south of Bham, and my cousins' CR are barely starting to peek out. Give them a little while longer.

Same here. I covered the double white one on the north side of the house with leaves and black plastic. I uncovered it last week and there were a few green shoots. The double pink one on the southeast side was not covered and it has yet to show any green. I'm going to cover it with the black plastic to heat up the soil to see what happens. The strange thing is my perennial hibiscuses are sprouting. They were uncovered over the winter. Both are usually May before they sprout.

Terry, sadly it still hasn't shown any sign of life. I have to look at the pruned stump all the time since it formed the center backdrop of one of my beds. I keep telling myself that maybe it's just coming late. In keeping with that lie, I'm reluctant to dig it up lest I see it's limp pale dead roots. I didn't think it wasn't very hardy.

Take a hand tool and carefully dig out some dirt until you get to the trunk a couple of inches below the soil line. Carefully scratch the "bark" on the root to see if it is still green. At least you will know whether or not to replace it. If I didn't think it was sacrilegious I would suggest a prayer for it.
