full sun, vertical incline ground cover ideas

hello!

we have a vertical yard that is COVERED in long grasses, patches of moss, and WEEDS, WEEDS, WEEDS!

we are in the process of cutting everything back so that we can get some ground cover going.

i would love to plant periwinkle because i like the tight, low to the ground look of it. however, i understand that periwinkle prefers shady areas. the only shade happening in this yard right now is from the tall weeds!

i would love some suggestions of ground cover that grows very tight and low to the ground and will TAKE OVER anything that is in its path!

thanks in advance for your help!

-anne
