Peonies?

I just got a few (2) gallon peonies and each has close to 10 buds. I am going out of town this weekend for Easter and was wondering if I should plant them now or when I get back. I would like to go ahead and plant them before leaving, but I'm worried the cold weather may knock the buds off or that I won't be able to water them enough to keep them healthy. What do y'all think is the best option? Thanks.

Never say never, but I don't ever remember seeing peonies burned by a frost. I've seen them withstand several frosts over the years. If it makes you feel better, plant them and put some large pots over them to protect them. They will be fine.
