New roses, flowers + Hurricane season ahhhh

Is anyone else scared of a hurricane knocking out their new roses? I live on a hill so I'm not so scared of flooding but the winds, the winds. I was thinking of constructing a wall around my rose bushes made of cinder blocks, build it up and then put plywood on top to protect the little babies from the wind. The bed is bordering my house so I wouldn't have to use too many blocks.
