Etowah MGs sold over $30,000 worth of plants!

We'll never match the B'ham Botanical Gardens, but we did really well. The Master Gardeners in Gadsden have worked hard for months maintaining two greenhouses, mixing mounds of potting soil, digging plants from our own gardens, buying marked-down plants from Lowes, potting, watering, weeding, pruning, and labeling. Not to mention having a lot of fun and good fellowship along the way! Our sale on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, followed by the half-price sale the next Saturday brought in over $30,000. We don't have final figures yet, but will net over $20,000.

The proceeds will go toward scholarships for horticultural students and for a variety of local projects. We've already landscaped 30 Habitat homes for which MGs provided plans, labor, plants, compost, and mulch. We also held a class for the new owners to teach them how to care for and add to their landscapes. We've also helped schools and non-profit agencies with their landscaping.

If you're interested in learning more about your gardening passion (there's always more to learn!) and would enjoy using your knowledge and experience to help others, I encourage you to look into the MG program.
