looking for savannah ruby grass

Does anyone have experience with this grass? It was featured in the June 2009 Better Homes Magazine. Would love to locate a dealer.

What a coincidence! I ran across this grass for the first time last week at - of all places - K-Mart in Pell City. It is a beautiful , very soft, blue-green little "fountain" with the botanical name Melinis nerviglumis. I believe the cultivars "Savannah" and the one I bought, "Pink Crystals", are close, if not one and the same.

The only thing I have read that is disappointing is that they are only hardy in zones 8/9 and above. Hopefully they will prove to be a bit more hardy, since I've never seen them anywhere before and I would like to grow them year-after-year.

I'm about 15 minutes away from K-Mart so let me know if I can help you out...

Thanks, Nelson! I'm planning to drive over to Pell City today to check on the grass. I'm not sure where K Mart is located, but I'll find it. By the way, are you still looking for the burgundy glow ajuga? I have a good bit of that and could bring you some.
