where to plant carolina silverbell

was given a 2' tall plant of halesia carolina (tetraptera) recently and have looked online about growing conditions.

naturally an understory tree and i don't recall ever seeing one in an exposed location. i am reading that more sun = more flowers, much the same as american dogwood.

anyone have one in full sun? also read that they don't do well in difficult sites which i take to mean are not tolerant of drought/neglect (at least until well-established, maybe). i can either plant in a wooded setting but won't be able to see it as well as where i want to put it. the prospective site is pretty much full sun near the driveway entrance.

if you grow this tree, can you comment on the form of it?

i want something in this spot that is not full to the base but similar in form to a well-grown crape myrtle with exposed main trunk and spreading top growth.

thanks in advance for your input.
