?Japanese Maple Seeds?

Lynn seems to be our resident Japanese maple expert so I hope this catches her eye. I am asking for everyone's expertise with Japanese maples. I have two types of Japanese maples. The palmate types, Bloodgood and a green one that Lynn gave to me last year and a green dissectum type.

Palmate-type blooms early and sets seed early. Seeds are late letting go from the tree. Often it is almost autumn before they let go. Are these seeds ready to pick before they let go from the tree? Anyone have info to share about harvesting and germinating the palmate type seeds?

The green dissectum is 3 or 4 years old and bloomed later than the palmate type. This is its first year to bloom. I need the same information about harvesting and planting seeds as I asked about in the palmate-type. The little helicopter seeds for the dissectum seems to be much smaller. ANd how long after harvesting are they viable?

I would love to plant the seeds from both trees.

Thanks

Terry
