Eleagnus. It's a thug - be sure you have lots of room. It does have wonderfully fragrant blooms in late summer - early fall.

I always call this plant Uglyagnus, lol.

LOL, rhizo, that is what my mother called it but it is a wonderful plant to use as part of a living fence. I intersperse holly, chinese privet, purple fringe plant and some large old garden roses with the aforementioned and pampas grass to make a beautiful fence that has interest year round. Eleagnus is beautiful when the leaves turn silver.

It is invasive in forest and woods. Please do not contribute to that problem.

Apparently a plant one does not want to culitvate.

It is a lovely shrub plant if you manage it properly, just like any other plant --- take care not to let it get out of control. It is not kudzu.

Birds eat the fruit/seed and spread it way beyond the confines of your garden
