Ille Agnes?

| When I worked landscape in college, we used to dig up plants the owner referred to as Ille Agnes. She said it was a "noxious weed" that refuses to die. Since then I have seen the plant in highway rights of way. It's big and gangly but seems to live through anything--including the current drought we have here in Bama. I'd like to plant some in my new landscaping as a border but I can't find it. I have searched the net. Maybe I have the wrong spelling or even the wrong name. It's tall (8-12 feet), thick (6-8 feet), light green pepperminty color with about 2 inch leaves growing extremely thick all over the plant from gound to top. Same color year round. Anyone know what this is more commonly refered to? |

| Eleagnus. It's a thug - be sure you have lots of room. It does have wonderfully fragrant blooms in late summer - early fall. |

| I always call this plant Uglyagnus, lol. |

| LOL, rhizo, that is what my mother called it but it is a wonderful plant to use as part of a living fence. I intersperse holly, chinese privet, purple fringe plant and some large old garden roses with the aforementioned and pampas grass to make a beautiful fence that has interest year round. Eleagnus is beautiful when the leaves turn silver. |

| It is invasive in forest and woods. Please do not contribute to that problem. |

| It is a lovely shrub plant if you manage it properly, just like any other plant --- take care not to let it get out of control. It is not kudzu. |
