Gerbera daisies

Hello! I am a newbie and was hoping someone could help me with some questions about gerbera daisies. I have two pots I'd like to plant gerbera's in. I as wondering if anyone knows how long they will continue to flower in the Birmingham area? And what kind of maintenance do they require?

Thanks!

Hi brittanimv.
I am no expert on Gerbera's (or much of anything else) but I have planted them before in containers on my sunny front porch in B'ham. They bloom all summer, till frost, though in my experience, they didn't bloom profusely like say, zinnias. I pinched off the spent blooms and kept the plants tidy, watered and lightly fertilized. The blooms were large and beautiful, and different colors. I really enjoyed them last summer, but planted something different out there this year. Dana

They usually come back every year as well.
