hot pink azalea, anyone?

this is evergreen azalea 'macrantha' and it is unusually late for it to be flowering. normally, it blooms in may and it did so this year. i am guessing that, because of the drought, it just shut down before the cycle was complete. now, with the recent rains we have been getting, she wants to pick up where she left off. if this had been a spring/summer with normal rainfall, it would have been covered in these bright pink flowers. probably because of the stress and second flush, the coverage is sparse. still, it's some bright color in the garden. the flowers are fairly large, about 2" wide. click thumbnails below for a larger image.
