If you have some botanical knowledge, a Vascular plant key, would be useful, like Manual of the Vascular Flora of the Carolinas by Radford, Ahles,and Bell . Also go to the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service site at http://www.aces.edu/homegarden/, or give us a try, put some pics on here .After all we are bored it's to hot to garden in the afternoon ...We need some stimulation.

That Vine sounds like Ampelopsis Sp. (sweet pepper vine). If it is get rid of it unless you would like you fence covered by it , which isn't a bad look. The birds scatter it every where. There are several species of it one has leaves that are lobed and remind you of young oak leaves . They are tenacious and grow like Kudzu....Careful don't let it grab you with those tendrils or they will find you all vined up by the fence.lol

Gruber, it COULD be ampelopsis - the Google images show a lot of different leaf forms - mine reminds me of young maple leaves, and a couple of the pictures match that. Whatever it is, it's definitely invasive and will have to go. I have other plans for my fence.

They will find me all vined up by the fence someday anyway, I spend so much time outside. :)
