You might want to start with a marriage counselor if y'all can't talk this out and work out an agreement about where wisteria can go and where your space is. In the meantime, cutting through the outer layer of the stem ("girdling" it) will keep nutrients from getting to the top part of the plant and will kill that back. Using a dropper bottle to coat the cut with undiluted Roundup will keep it from coming back from the roots. My husband gave me a handy little bottle with a long neck that I keep filled with straight RU to use on privet stumps when I clear it out of our back area. This bottle is designed for glue, but there are other kinds available.

Let him have a couple of places to plant wisteria, but tell him NO when it comes to disturbing valuable tree plantings. If HE won't remove the wisteria from your pine areas, tell him that you will yank it up tomorrow and toss it to the curb. That'll give him time to decide where to put the darned thing.

Compromise, but don't let him get away with planting wisteria all over the place. I wonder why he has a big bromance with wisteria? It can be such a pain in the keester.
