Okie dokie...about how much chicken do we need to pick up?...it's gonna be me and hubby so that's 2...we were gonna bring our son but him and our youngest daughter have a band competition that day so my oldest 2 daughters and my mom and their adopted grandparents across the road have them covered...a day without kids! lol...i won't know how to act

I put a question mark when I mentioned more chicken because that will depend on how much Diane is bringing and how many people plan to come. It may take a few days to get a head count. I've heard from one other Master Gardener who is planning to come and bring her husband and grandson. So far that sounds like 6 swappers and 6 family members. 3 others (Nelson, Todd, and Peggy (littehelper) have posted on the other thread, so if they come (and I can count; not a given) that's 9 swappers and a total of 15 mouths to feed. We'll see how it goes from here.

Just heard from another local MG (Debbie) who wants to join us. That makes 10 swappers, 16 people for lunch.

Debbie says she will bring baked beans. That should go with what we have planned so far.

Just let me know how much chicken to pick up and if anyone else plans on getting chicken too...15 people * 2 pieces of chicken each would be a 30 piece or so box...but i'm sure some may eat more than 2 pieces especially if some of the pieces are legs or wings...also i didn't think about it but i hope there is some place close by where you can get 2 or 3 15 piece boxes or so without pre-ordering...we plan on leaving really early that morning heading that way so i'm sure there has to be a few places along the way to get chicken :) so it will be reasonably warm and fresh

The pavilion is supposed to have a 15-amp outlet so, just wondering, does anyone have a heat lamp or other device that can keep our food, as Moonfire says, "reasonably warm and fresh"? Plainly stated, cold chicken sucks! ;-)

There is also a grill we could use, so if anyone would like burgers to go along with chicken I could bring some ground beef (and hot dogs) if someone would like to bring the fixin's (condiments, onions, lettuce, buns, cheese, etc.). Just thinkin' out loud here.....

Also a reminder - this is a swap - not a free-for-all - please be prepared to pitch in on the food and plants, etc. As we've always stated, every one has something to swap. I'll bring extra plants as always, but I don't plan on giving them away to moochers (and I won't apologize for that).

i will bring a halogen outdoor lamp on a small stand that should be hot enough. if any one else has one, bring it along.
we can keep the chicken and biscuits both warm. i will bring a broiling pan to pile the chicken in.

I'm still not sure how much chicken to pick up and I'd like for it to be enough...I don't want anyone to feel hungry lol...so please let me know if anyone else is picking up or bringing chicken too and how much I may need to bring...as this is my 1st time meeting with ya'll I don't know everyone's appetites and i'm very willing to do my share as much as possible :)

If I may add to Nelson's comments....even though I cannot attend.....if you don't have plants to share, such items as gardening or nature books (gently used), bird feeders, gardening gloves, homemade baked goods, etc. would be welcome. At future swaps, you might graduate to the point that you have plants and /or seeds to bring.

There used to be a time when people would drive up with cars & trucks literally packed with all kinds of neat stuff; too many times they now drive "by" with their hands out.

In answer to Dianne's question: My theory is that everyone should bring about 1 1/4 times the quantity of food that would feed themselves and their family if it was all they were going to eat. That way when all the food is shared, there should be more than enough for everyone. I don't believe you and your husband could eat 30 pieces of chicken, even if you didn't eat anything else, so someone else should also bring some chicken or other kind of meat.

Suggestion: Nelson has offered to bring hamburger and hot dogs. What if Wayne brings buns and fixin's instead of biscuits? We'll have Dianne's chicken, Nelson's hamburgers with Wayne's fixin's, my salads, Debbie's baked beans, Kenneth's bread (which makes a good dessert). Susan can bring dessert and plates, etc. Everyone can bring their own cokes or whatever. Can someone bring a cooler of ice? Sounds like a meal to me. Have I missed anyone or any food?

no new post from peggy, she must not be coming.
sandra is not up to making the trip. even though we'll be few, we will have fun and i look forward to seeing all of you sat.

I didn't want to post any until I was sure as I have been "sure" in the past but life happened. I am going to be there!! I will bring Ice, Cups, paper towels, store bought cake... no time to cook it. I'll be bringing my husband and a child or two possibly. Now over to the plant thread...
