Hi Dale,

Looks like epiphyllum oxypetalum. I've always heard them referred to as "night-blooming cereus". Mine used to begin opening around 9pm or so. However, during cooler Fall weather they would occasionally bloom at odd times during the day. Whenever it happens they are spectacular.

Hi Dale & welcome from Opp! Love your flower! Agree with E. oxypetalum. Looks like maybe it was already closing up? Did you sniff it? I have this plant also, but it has not bloomed yet.

Looks like you have some space there to do some serious gardening, though you may be like me and your true heart lies with the non-hardy potted entities. The house plant forum here is one I visit most days.

Hi Dale, Epiphyllums have been crossed with day blooming cacti to produce pink, orange, red and yellow flowers that is supose to last for several days. I have traded for one that is said to be Day blooming, we will see. Some named ones are listed as Flamingo, Padre, Vivel, and Sun Goddess. I have been trying to get one for many years and all I trade for turn out to be night blooming. I will keep trying.
How long did your flower last? If it lasted more than one day, I will be over there to get a cutting. Tony
