| I need recommendations. My home near Andalusia, AL. ended up with a TALL foundation. As much as 14' in places. This leaves my front stairs - which are open - looking like a fire escape. I want to close in below them with lattice and plant a low maintenance vine that wll not destroy my brick if it grows out of its immediate boundaries. I have partial sun to shade. Any great ideas for me? |

| Clematis armandii, an evergreen clematis would be nice. They have this on an arbor near where I live at Aldridge Gardens, in dappled shade, and it is a gorgeous vine, IMO. I grow an oriental climbing-hydrangea type vine called Schizophragma "Moonlight." Climbing hydrangea type plants are also lovely but you have to patient for a few years + before they take off and start to fill in and bloom. You might also look at Dutchman's pipe vine, except that it is deciduous (not evergreen). Todd |
