It's been mentioned before that our gardens are not sterile, that we can't always control the insects, etc that get into it simply by carefully monitoring what we bring in. This has been brought home to me recently.

I have no idea where this morning glory suddenly came from, but it has grown up all over my deck and a holly bush in a very short time. I've lived here years and have never seen it anywhere in the yard before. (Maybe a bird dropped some seed....) What's worse is that it has a horrible case of rust. It is UGLY.

I've pulled it all off (that I could see) and am crossing my fingers that none of my intentional plants have caught it. I need to read up on transmission and prevention methods. I've fought a battle with vinca for years but at least it didn't have rust!
