Chainsaw Repair

Does anyone know a place in the Birmingham area where I can get a chainsaw worked on. Last July 14 I took my Homelite XL chainsaw to a repair shop in Oporto-Madrid Ave in Birmingham to have the drive sprocket replaced. I was told this is the only place in Birmingham which will work on it. Their work was cash only, no checks. They said it would be ready in 2 weeks. I gave them 3 weeks and called. They couldn't find the ticket but would call back. We did this dance about a dozen times until finally I left work early one afternoon in mid-SEPTEMBER, went there and told them to find the ticket and chainsaw and I would go to the bank for the money. I got it after a 20 minute search. Now it will run for a short time and stop. I don't want to take it back there because I have little confidence in their work and less confidence in the way they run their business. Does anyone have any suggestions for someone to work on my chainsaw?

Hey, Terry. Don't know about a place in Bhm but I goto a place here in Prattville that is always honest and does good repairs.
If coming this way, take the first exit, hwy 31 into town. Go through the main intersection, Walgreens on your left and Exon and McDonald's on your right. Just a little ways and Steve's repair is on your right. You'll see the lawn tractors parked out front.
Even the girls at the desk know what they're talking about. They all are real helpful.

Terry,

My husband uses Bob's Power Tools on Hwy 31. He says they have been pretty reliable.

Lynn and Susan, thanks for the info. I called Bob's and they say they have trouble getting Homelite parts.

I don't know why I didn't think to go to the Homelite web site earlier but when I did I found a list of local service dealers. One is Handy TV & Appliance in Homewood. I called and they said they don't have any problem getting parts.
