What y'all doin these days?

Wish I could say hi to all my gardenweb friends more often than the swaps.
Anybody doing anything in the garden during this monsoon season?
I wonder what is rotting away this year.
I have about 100+ leucojum and daffodil bulbs waiting to be planted if it ever dries out a little. And maybe this weekend i'll put up another bottle tree I've had planned, so I'll have something else new to look at this winter and the neighbors will have something else to talk about.

Did anybody else see Deb on the news right before halloween? She was in homewood park talking about safe halloween programs for kids, and it was good to see she and her family looked well.

Hi Todd,

I feel the same way - I'd like to enjoy the company of my GardenWeb friends more than just twice a year.

If enough of us feel the same way, maybe we could meet for lunch between Thanksgiving & Christmas and share a meal and "good cheer".

How 'bout it, ya'll???

We're putting another coat of paint on storm windows the painters didn't get covered well and reinstalling them. We're also preparing for the onslaught of children and grandchildren over Thanksgiving and again at Christmas (much fun, but also much work ;-) ), so not much gardening going on around here. I have a lot of plants still in pots and some I need to move since we've built a front porch and moved the front walkway. I probably should wait till everything goes dormant to move things, but probably won't if I can get to it before then. I'll just say happy Thanksgiving and merry Christmas to all and look forward to the Spring swap.

The Master Gardener Greenhouse here already has lots of plants to care for, and with the warm weather I have been going over several times a week to water what the automatic sprinklers can't reach. I also have planted seeds of a variety of milkweeds - they are coming up nicely after being stratified all summer. At home, I am getting back into another phase of gardening - underwater plants. I have a 25 gallon, a 29 gallon and a 10 galon tank to set up; one may become a paludarium, where both underwater plants and terrestrial plants share the same tank. Meanwhile, great advances have taken place in underwater gardening, with special potting media and carbon dioxide diffusers, and I will try these to enhance growth.

Not much gardening going on with me either. I NEED to be dividing some black-eyed susans and cosmos, but we seem to spend a lot of weekends going to grand-kids soccer and football games. And like catbird, we're trying to get ready for the onslaught of the holidays. Also our house is topsy-turvy right now. We're having hardwood put in our BR (which we should have done when we built the house), so everything is a mess. Should get the final coat of finish tomorrow and can move furniture back in this weekend. Then we've got to paint the walls at some point when I pick out new bedding. It's been interesting to try to find stuff we've moved around. Oh yeah, we're also rehearsing for the Living Christmas Tree, which will be the weekend before Christmas.

Trying to keep a few pots alive on my apartment patio - and wintersowing a couple of seeds that need warm/cold/warm cycles - and looking for a decent-sized garden area(with some sort of house on it)that DH & I can settle into, hopefully by early 2010.

Nelson, lunch sounds good to me sometime! I like the new places I get to try with my garden friends, like The Ark this fall--that was the best shrimp and catfish I can remember! Happy thanksgiving!!

I just finally got a lot of the plants from the swap in the ground today! Can you believe the rainfall this Fall!

I would love to meet for lunch with everybody sometime. Maybe we should do a post Christmas lunch when things slow down for everyone a bit?

I have been having an English ivy war for about a year and was pleased to find the chemical warfare and mounding of grass clippings supplied by a landscaper neighbor (Littlehelper's hubby!) have made the mat of vines brittle and easy to clear out of the way. I finally got the Oakleaf hydrangeas, maple leaf viburnum, and red buckeye in the ground over there!

I am going to need to look at enlarging and/or creating some new beds soon! I am bursting at the seams!

Hellooo everyone. I am late but I am here!! As the fireworks are going off in the background and my dog is hiding under my desk at my feet I would love to get together with everyone more than twice a year. I have seeds starting everywhere!
My dear sweet husband brought me 2 hibiscus just after the weird snow a few weeks back only to have me realize there were more dying where these came from. Yes He brought me more. I now have 7... inside. They are not small so ... any takers for spring...? Hosta from seed, black fountain grass from seed, pink Siberian iris from seed and don't even get me on the African Violets :o) Having fun and waiting on the warm sun to come back!! Happy New Year to all!!!

Brr, good week for wintersowing here - not any warmer than the nawth I came from! But at least we don't have the snow that's up there - as long as I don't have to shovel (snow, that is) I'm happy.

We're getting closer to getting a permanent garden, so I'm hoping to join in the spring swap. I still probably won't have much to swap, but at least I'll get to meet some of the AL GWers.

Me,I'm just trying to stay warm! It's COLD out there. I go into hibernation from New Years till March and the DH (who hates summer) comes to life. I take the dogs out at bedtime on summer nights; DH takes them out on nights like this. Works for us. ;-)

Howdy, never seen so many birds at the feeders as there's been here lately......I got about 30 or so Cardinals hanging around my yard now. Always had a few pairs but never this many at one time. The Cardinals, especially the males, against the snow was a sight to see for me. Hope you folks are keeping warm.
