two nice allium plantings

I visited several gardens in Normandy a couple of weeks ago..and while I wasn't really attracted by "Big Ball" alliums until now, I've pretty much changed my mind after seing a few examples where they were the ones creating "a" sight...look :

jardin agapanthe

In each of the 6 square beds lined by round box globes, a large Hosta sieboldana Elegans, a dwarf hydrangea behind it, oriental hellebores at their feet...and Allium (Purple Sensation maybe ?)

Hope you like it too..

Sorry...I had said "two" nice allium plantings...here's the other one :

clos du coudray

There were groups of such alliums now and then in the borders, in this rose garden surrounded by climbers in full bloom...they gave a true "rythm" to the borders...

I just stumbled in from the cold and snow...what a nice sight! I especially like the repeating globe shapes in the first picture.

That first pic . . . adorable, but kind of an 'Alice in Wonderland' effect. A bit other-world-ish(in a fun way of course). I wonder who gets the chore of trimming all those little boxwoods - ugg, glad it's not me!
