| Our harvest of 2006. We moved last year and I sure miss the old garlic bed I had. The new garlic beds ended up in a low spot and about 40% of the seed did not come up. I'm moving the beds to higher ground before fall planting. This will also be a great opportunity to improve the soil which was rather too compacted. However, the ones that came up did well and I ended up with about 100 heads of garlic, 7 different varieties.
Here it is hanging:
This is a picture of the Spanish Roja heads I'll be saving for seed. Spanish Roja, German Porcelain, and Weedam did the best for me, followed by Polish Hardneck and Oregon Blue.
Thanks to all of you who share your knowledge. I've learned a lot from this forum. |
