Growing green garlic in a container...

seems to be a success. Here's a picture of a couple of pots that I planted with store bought garlic (about 1" spacing between cloves). The pot on the left has been growing for a couple of months - the other one about a month or so:

I just harvested the pot on the left and this is what I got:

Is this about what green garlic should look like? Or should I have left it growing longer? So far I've tried the garlic "chives" on a baked potato and nachos and it seems pretty tasty!

I have some gourmet garlic for mild climates growing in a big planter I constructed on another deck. I can't wait to see if I get some "real" garlic out of that later this year.
