Garlic in Northern NJ...

Anyone in Northern NJ/NY growing garlic? Mine is not showing any green yet, I seen a couple pointy half inch shoots but nothing else... I wonder if it'll be a bad year...

Thanks.

I am in central NJ and my garlic is just beginning to sprout. It's a little later this year, probably due to the colder winter. I wouldn't worry - in a couple of weeks you'll have a solid stand.

Cold temps do not afford much growth. If you have time and want to play around some you can uncover the little shoots so they get some direct sun and warmth. Then in the evening cover'em back up. I do just that with a small section I have here at home. It's sometimes fun to micro manage just to see how much they're growing each day. As the rest have said...don't stress.

my garden soil is in full sun and still frozen. the garlic is under 6" of shredded leaves and is coming up, about 1/2" to 1" tall. some nights have been in the teens and it still grows in the day.
