| Hi all, I have a quick question. What temperatures do I need before I can transplant my Leeks seedlings outdoors? Right now they are under fluorescent lights I appreciate any guidance you can give me. Lynn |

| Cornell says to set them out around your last frost date, but I've set mine out a couple of weeks before when growing summer leeks. The rub is that if the seedlings get enough chilling, they will be triggered to bloom. In the past when I've had overwintered leeks bloom, I let them do their thing until they produced seeds. |

| Even very young leek or welsh bunching onions (green onions) do fine here all the way through our mild socal winter. Our light frosts don't phase them in the slightest, but We don't get much under 30f. |

| You can direct sow outside in March in the UK although I sow 1st March in pots in the cold greenhouse because they usually follow my broad beans at my allotment and have to wait till June before I have a space to transplant them....but this is due to space and convenience, not chill or frost issues. |

| I am going to go for it this week. The lows won't be too low (29-35ish) and I think I can safely plant the leeks, onions, spinach and lettuce. Oh Yeah--and my Asparagus and Rhubarb! I almost forgot :P Lynn Marie |
