garlic did't sprout

A friend of mine give me some garlic in feburary last year .I planted it about the second week of feburary and it all did well,my first time to plant any. I saved some to plant in the fall,got it planted about october I think none of it has sprouted.What could have happen?

Maybe some others have an idea... Seems like it should easily be up by now in your zone. Dig one up carefully and take a look at the clove...

I second clones2's suggestion. I am in zone 7 but close to zone 6 and my garlic plants are over a foot tall. I think they started sprouting in March.
