| Can you fall-plant onions in a borderline zone 5 (borderline meaning, more like a zone 4 sometimes)? I am thinking to put starter PLANTS in maybe late September and let them get established, heavily mulch them... will this work???

| I only know of a few onions that can survive a winter in zone 4, some multiplier/walking onions will grow fine. If your planting long day onions, they don't need to be in soil for as long as a short day type. Check out Dixondale Farms for many varieties. |
