Multiplying Onion Sets

Sandi_W

About 16 years ago I bought some small multiplying onions from a farm that had seeded them. I planted each onion by itself and within a relatively short period of time each onion had multiplied. The bulbs were not much larger than the green stems. These onions were perennial in zone 8. All year long when I needed onions I would dig up one clump, separate, and plant one onion back into the hole. These produced very well this way for about 6 years until hurricane flooding killed them. I do not know what these were, but would like to grow them again. I know I haven't given much info, but any help please? Thank you.
