Wild ramps are sprouting in Zone 4b SW Minnesota!

The area in which these clusters are growing was covered with a foot of snow 5 days ago.

A person could harvest them at this point but I prefer to wait until the leaves have grown out fully (the leaves are edible as well as the root).

I find wild ramps to have a fresh, delightful oniony garlic flavor. They are the first food plant I am able to harvest every year.
