whoops! Newbie mistake. Can it be fixed?

I ordered shallots from Burpee this winter and when they hadn't arrived by the time I was planting onions, I went ahead and bought a few at the garden store and planted them.

Finally, today my burpee shallots came. But on the label of these it says to split the bulbs into cloves before planting! My other shallots didn't instruct that so I planted them whole!!!

The ones I planted whole are coming up in the garden- what should I do? Should I dig them up and split them up and replant them?

It sounds like you now have twice as many shallots as you intended to plant. I would leave alone the first ones you planted and plant the newly purchased ones as directed.
