 o
too late?

Is it too late for planting onions and garlic in SE Texas? My aunt gifted me some yellow and sweet onion, I guess they're sets, and also some garlic cloves for planting, but neither of us know if it's too late to plant now. Should I hold them until fall?

Thanks,
Kitty

RE: too late?

I doubt if they will keep until fall planting. You may plant now, and even if they are not very big when harvested, you will have more than what you started with. In Z9 garlic and some onions can usually grow well until October or beyond.

Thanks! RE: too late?

Well, I'm setting out plants this weekend, so it wouldn't hurt to put them in. If anything, maybe I'll get some flowers out of them, if not the greatest bulbs in the world. Thanks!
