I don't have any experience with growing in pots, but when you plant garlic cloves, you want the green pointed up. Or if the cloves haven't sprouted yet, you want to plant the pointed end up and the more blunt end down.

Garlic needs a winter cycle to produce a summer bulb with multiple cloves. The garlic plant in a pot, if it didn't get refrigerated or frozen for a month prior to planting, probably will not create a summer bulb. Instead, it will continue growing until winter sets in, and then create a single clove round. It will then stay dormant through the winter, start growing in the spring, and then produce a bulb with multiple cloves next summer.

If the garlic did get refigerated or frozen prior to planting in a pot, then it will probably start to develop a bulb around the summer solstice.

Ah I see, sounds like it has gone dormant I shall see what happens over the next few months. Should I continue to water occasionally if the soil dries out or leave it?
