2nd year Globemaster questions

Good morning all. Last year, my first bloom of Globemaster were all terrific...tall plants with GIANT heads. This Spring, for their second season, I was pleasantly surprised to see that where there once was ONE I now had TWO stalks arising from Winter slumber. But...

The flower heads were 1/3 the size of last year's result. Is this normal?
