Garlic bulbs exposed, what to do?

Hi everyone, this is my first year growing garlic. I have 2 varieties going, Italian Purple, and Silver Rose. All of the silver roses are fine, but for some reason on 3 or 4 of the IP plants the bulb has become slightly exposed and turned a deep red color....so here's my question: Do I cover the exposed part back up with soil or just let it go?

Not an expert..... but I would cover them. I had some exposed after a hard rain and I didn't know either. So I covered them and they done well.

Wrappers get bright red if the crop is watered too late in the season. We have had late rains the past few years and not only do the Italian Purple start to grow again, the wrappers are that brilliant red which I have come to dread (sure is pretty, though.)
