You are supposed to snip it off, and I did with 2 out of 4. But look at it!! Over 6 feet high, sticking perfectly straight up far above rest of the garden, although the tomatoes are catching up. I am growing elephant garlic in front of my apartment in a little 6 x 2 plot, my neighbors are getting more and more blown away. None of them have seen an elephant garlic plant before. People constantly ask me about the weird corn I am growing.
